Religious and faith based support
We are aware of how difficult things can get when you or a loved one is in hospital. Our in-house Chaplaincy team provides spiritual, religious and pastoral support for all patients and families in our Trust. You do not have to be religious to ask for help from a chaplain, as our Chaplains don’t only support with prayers and blessings, but they can give advice or just be a listening ear. However, if you would like further information or support around faith or spirituality, you can check out some of these resources below.
The Church of England Birmingham. Our region is young, diverse, creative, dynamic and constantly changing. In the midst of the political, economic, social and environmental changes, God is at work, inside and outside the church. They help those who are encountering unusual and/or troubling experiences, and who feel afraid or oppressed. They also share links to other faith groups if you need them.
The Inter Faith Network (IFN) works to promote understanding, cooperation and good relations between organisations and persons of different faiths in the UK. It does this through providing opportunities for linking and sharing of good practice, providing advice and information, raising awareness within wider society of the importance of inter-faith issues and developing programmes to increase understanding of different faith communities.
Faith Action is a national network of faith-based and community organisations seeking to serve their communities through social action and by offering services such as health and social care, childcare, housing and welfare to work.
The Faith & Belief Forum’s inclusive approach welcomes everyone – whether you’re an Atheist, Buddhist, Baha’i, Christian, Hindu, Jew, Muslim, Sikh, Zoroastrian, or identify with any other belief. We create spaces in schools, universities, workplaces and the wider community where people can engage with questions of belief and identity and meet people different from themselves. The Faith & Belief Forum Youth Leadership groups consist of young leaders from a variety of faith and belief backgrounds, who are building an interfaith movement.
Inclusive Gathering is a diverse, justice-seeking, LGBTQIA+ affirming church for ALL based in Brum’s Gay Village (City Centre). We believe in the radical idea that a true spiritual community can be formed based on who is INCLUDED, not by who is EXCLUDED. When we say “inclusion”, we mean much more than mere tolerance or welcome. That means people of every race and ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity, age and background, HIV status, ability and disability, and theological and political conviction are loved, invited, and fully included.
Spark and Co. are a Community Interest Company that supports racialised people in the UK by providing information, education & opportunity. Their goal is to tackle inequalities equipping communities with knowledge, support and opportunity. While there is some great mainstream support and guidance out there, it can sometimes seem difficult to find advice relevant to your faith.
TellMAMA (Measuring Anti-Muslim Attacks) is an independent, non-governmental organisation which works on tackling anti-Muslim hatred. It is a secure and reliable service that allows people from across England to report any form of Anti-Muslim abuse. They’ll support you to address your concerns and record any incident that you experience as a result of your Muslim faith or someone perceiving you to be Muslim.
