Support from our chaplains
Siblings are often known as the ‘forgotten mourners’ when losing a loved one. However, losing a brother or sister is massively life changing so what you are going through and how you are feeling is perfectly normal. We know that this journey can be difficult to navigate so, please feel free to contact the BWC Chaplaincy team at any point if you feel that you need further support.

Welcome to Nahida
Nahida lost her 12-year-old brother unexpectedly in June 2022 due to a rare disease. The sudden loss plunged her into deep grief, leaving her feeling lost and unsure of how to navigate the pain. In her search for support, she explored various resources and spoke with many people, but discovered that there was little to no guidance available, especially for older siblings, making the grieving process even more difficult.
Over the past two years, Nahida has not only learned how to live with her grief, but has also channelled her experience into action. She began working on a personal project to gather and curate a list of grief support resources, with a particular focus on helping older siblings who often feel overlooked in bereavement. This initiative became a meaningful way for her to connect with others, raise awareness, and offer the kind of support she wished she had found.
List of resources are below.
